New Delhi : Leaders of 14 African countries, including seven presidents and two prime ministers, will attend the first India-Africa Summit Tuesday and Wednesday in New Delhi, aimed at increasing bilateral links and South-South cooperation.
Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is likely to inaugurate the summit, with the parties planning to analyze transference of information and technology, as well as ways to increase cooperation to guarantee peace and security, a diplomatic source told Prensa Latina.
The participants also hope to exchange viewpoints on governability, and discuss ways to strengthen unity to consolidate the countries’ stances at international forums.
New Delhi’s support for African efforts to reduce poverty, and the possibility to write off the debt of the poorest African nations with India will be analyzed as well, the source added.
