Bhopal : Two policemen here were seriously injured when they were thrashed by the family of a man they went to arrest, the police said Tuesday.
Constables Suresh Dubey and Ripusudan Bhadoria went to arrest Prem, accused of illegally possessing arms, Monday night. His family members attacked them as soon as they handcuffed him.
Superintendent of Police Ramji Shrivastava said: “While the male members of the family of the accused beat up the policemen with sticks and rods, the women pelted stones at them. They were unable to arrest the accused.”
One of Dubey’s hands was fractured while Bhadoria sustained a severe head injury. Both are undergoing treatment at the Jai Prakash hospital here.
While the accused it still at large, police have registered a case against his family members. No arrest has been made so far.
