An advertisement, inviting applications from 12 districts, for recruitment to home guards was issued Monday. The districts included Betul and Harda, which fall under Betul parliamentary constituency where by-polls are scheduled Saturday.

The notice to Director General of Police Pramod Sharma was issued by the state’s Chief Electoral Officer J.S. Mathur Wednesday after the commission received a complaint about the publication of the advertisement.

Meanwhile, the EC also suspended two block-level officials, including Bheempur Development block coordinator N.R Pursane and Bhainsdehi block coordinator V.K. Tiwari, for allegedly giving away bicycles to girl students in areas where the by-polls are being held.
