Moscow : UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon began a visit to Russia on Wednesday to discuss conflicts such as Kosovo, the Middle East, Abjasia, Afghanistan and Iraq, reported a diplomatic source.
The spokesman of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Mijail Kamynin, said that the agenda includes debate over the reform of the international organization, apart from the Russian participation in peace operations.
Ban Ki Moon will stay in Moscow until April 11 and hold meetings with Russian President Vladimir Putin and the elected president, Dmitri Medvedev.
It is expected that the UN secretary general inform Moscow of the critical situation prevailing in the Sudanese province of Darfur and call for major support of the UN peacekeeping and African Union forces operating in that region.
According to sources, the Russian initiative of summoning in Moscow an international conference on the conflicts in the Middle East, with the presence of all the parties involved, is another topic to be analyzed in Moons meeting with the Russian leaders.
