Bhopal : "The harassment, torture and arrests of a number of Muslims at several places in Madhya Pradesh, at the stance of Saffro-nazis has dismayed and alarmed Muslims of the State," said State Convenor Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat Madhya Pradesh Syed Irshad Ali in a statement on Friday.
The law enforcing agencies have implicated a number of hapless Muslim youth and detained them for their alleged links with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
Mr. Ali further said, "Even a school going boy under 18 has been detained from a village in Guna district. A Muslim advocate was thrashed up by Saffron goons in Dhar court premises in the very presence of police and media for pleading the Muslim detainees’ case."
Calling upon the Government at the Centre to issue orders for a probe into SIMI-linked arrests in Madhya Pradesh, the statement said, "The BJP should not be allowed to utilise the ban on SIMI for creating communal polarisation for political ends. The misdeeds of the Saffro-nazis should not be condoned."
The statement clarifies that All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat never supports unlawful activities by anyone.
It also makes it clear without mincing any words that "victimisation and persecution of Muslims’ human rights, fundamental rights and liberties should not be allowed to be trampled upon."
