Gaza : At least eight Palestinians died, among them one child, in a military operation Israel launched against Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours.
The offensive that began on Friday and ended on Saturday morning also left 25 people wounded, among them a girl in serious condition, Palestinian sources reported.
Early on Saturday morning about 15 tanks and two Israeli excavators went into Bureij, in the center of Gaza.
The incursion was preceded by an air raid in Jan Yunes where two soldiers from the Hamas Islamic Movement died.
Both operations were considered routine by an army spokeswoman.
The aggression was in reprisal for a Wednesday attack of a Palestinian command against the fuel station of Nahal Oz border passage in eastern Gaza, according to military sources.
Two Israeli civilians died in the raid that prompted the Tsahal reprisal operation on that day which has killed six Palestinians, among them three children.
Israeli Prime minister Ehud Olmert warned that military operations in Gaza will continue.
Calm reigns on Saturday in that autonomous zone after troops withdrawal.
