In his address, Hatta said the post was of great importance and therefore, its holder should have a strong commitment in carrying out his task as best as he could.

“We are at present, doing the bureaucratic reform…so, the officials at the State Secretariat Office should work well and efficiently in their effort to support presidential activities,” Hatta was quoted by Antara news agency.

“The presidential military secretary is responsible for giving technical and administrative support to the president, in relation with army chief of staff, navy chief of staff, air force chief of staff, and the National Defence Forces (TNI) and National Police top officials,” he said.

Hatta called on Budhiman to do his job well and not be influenced by the political situation in the run-up to next year’s general election.

Before taking up the new position, Budhiman was an expert staff at the Defence Ministry.

His predecessor, Bambang Sutedjo will act as Deputy of Political, Legal and Security Affairs at the Ministry of National Development Planning Board.
