Featuring the getaways of Langkawi, Penang, Taman Negara and Cameron Highlands, Tourism Malaysia has unveiled focussed destination-centric itineraries in conjunction with select travel agents on a pan-India basis.

The gamut of holiday packages to these getaways are competitively priced, from Rs.18,889 to Rs.26,628, and offer “myriad attractions and indulgences for travellers to explore”, a Tourism Malaysia statement said Wednesday.

Quite appropriately, the campaign is named ‘Jao Toh Jaano’ that translates into: You can only discover a place if you visit it.

“Our travel packages are in sync with the marketing initiatives to showcase holistic destination diversity with focus being on both new and conventional,” said Tourism Malaysia director P. Manoharan.

“Our thrust will remain on bringing new holiday options in the region enabling the Indian travellers to discover new aspects of Malaysia.

“These packages are aligned with our overall strategic approach which is centred on destination product showcases thus making this summer the ideal time to explore cosmopolitan glitz and the ecological charms,” he added.

Malaysia during the summer season will be buzzing with international festivals that include three international musical extravaganzas – the Penang World Music Festival, the Miri International Jazz Festival and the Rainforest World Music festival.

“Food connoisseurs can make most of the Colours and Flavours of Malaysia, a sumptuous showcase of some of Malaysia’s best loved food and delicacies that originate from various states throughout the country,” the statement said.

Malaysia continues to remain the preferred holiday getaway for Indian travellers, registering a consistent double-digit increase in arrivals.

By February 2008, 38,644 Indian travellers had visited Malaysia, registering an increase of 31.2 percent as compared to last year’s arrivals for the same period.

During 2007, 422,452 Indian travellers visited Malaysia – an overall increase of 51.4 percent.
