The organization appreciated Union Minister Arjun Singh’s patience, steadfastness and wisdom to give 27% reservation to backward classes in central educational institutions, saying that this step will greatly benefit backward classes.

Banat Wallah, president Indian Union Muslim League said one more intense demand of social justice requires that Muslims should also be provided the facility of reservation because they do not get their share in the total quota fixed for backward classes. This lacuna can be removed by granting separate sub-quota to Muslims out of total quota, he said. Mr. Bana Wallah said whereas Sachar Committee has also endorsed that Muslims’ condition is poorer than that of backward classes, Ranganath Mishra Commission has demanded 10% quota for Muslims and 5% quota for other minorities.
