Mumbai : Reliance Petroleum Ltd (RPL) promoted by Mukesh Ambani expects to complete the work of its complex refinery in a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Jamnagar in Gujarat ahead of the December 2008 deadline.
“We have achieved 90 percent overall progress in implementation of the complex refinery coming up in an SEZ at Jamnagar,” the company said in a statement Wednesday.
Based on the progress made till date in the engineering, procurement and construction activities, RPL expects to complete the project ahead of the schedule.
RPL chairman Ambani said: “The team is fully geared up and motivated to commission the refinery ahead of its initial schedule of December 2008. RPL is poised to create a new world record for project implementation in the refining sector.”
The project implementation gained further momentum during the fourth quarter of the previous financial year and led to the achievement of several significant milestones, the statement added.
The engineering work is nearing its completion, with all drawings for concreting, structural steel and underground piping and over 90 percent of electrical and instrumentation released for construction.
Procurement and contracting for equipments, tagged items and bulk materials for the project has also been completed.
