Kasargod (Kerala) : Orders banning the assembly of four or more people were clamped Thursday in Kerala’s Kasaragod town following communal clashes and the murder of two people.
The orders, to be in force for five days, also ban the plying of two-wheelers at the night. All liquor shops will be shut indefinitely.
“We have imposed prohibitory orders for five days to prevent further violence. It was a trivial issue that led to the incidents,” Kasargod district collector A.T. James told IANS.
To contain violence, the authorities Wednesday imposed a week’s ban on the use of two-wheelers in Kasargod town from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and announced the closure of liquor shops for three days.
The prohibitory orders will cover Kasargod town, the headquarters of Kasargod district, and the four neighbouring panchayats (village councils) of Cherkkala, Madhur, Mogralputhur and Muliyar.
