India downplays missile testing by Pakistan, says technology imported

New Delhi : India Saturday downplayed the test-firing of a ballistic missile by neighbouring Pakistan and asserted that Pakistan’s missile technology was imported from foreign countries.

“Pakistan requires regular testing of missiles as their technology is imported,” India’s Navy Chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta told reporters here today, news agency Press Trust of India reported.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan test-fired its “Shaheen-II” long-range surface-to-surface ballistic missile.

It is Pakistan’s longest range missile having a reach of 2,000 kms and capable of carrying nuclear as well as conventional warheads, the news agency reported.
