Kuwait : Kuwait and Algeria have issued a joint communique at the conclusion of a three-day official visit to the country by Algerian President Abdulaziz Bouteflika, with both voicing serious concern over the Arab crises.
During his stay, the president was briefed on the Kuwaitis’ major accomplishments in the economic, construction and political sectors.
In their closed-door talks, the Emir and the president dealt with international, Arab and regional issues of common concern, in addition to means of boosting bilateral ties.
The Kuwaiti and Algerian sides reviewed means of enhancing cooperation in the economic, commercial and investment sectors.
The visit was crowned with the signing of agreements on the avoidance of double taxation, cooperation in the economic field, and training in the technical and vocational sectors in addition to cooperation in the media and cultural fields.
The two leaders discussed Arab affairs and tension in Arab-Arab ties, and affirmed their joint desire to bolster these relations.
They also discussed the Palestinian cause and urged the warring Palestinian parties to try to restore national unity.
Kuwait and Algeria also expressed deep dismay over the continuation of the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, continuous violation of human rights, systematic demolition of Palestine’s infrastructure and the blockade on the Palestinian people.
The two sides expressed anew solidarity with the Palestinian people and support for a just settlement to the Mideast crisis.
The two states noted, during the visit, that the United States shoulders a historic responsibility towards the Mideast conflict as a sponsor of the Annapolis conference, and called for the implementation of the road map for the sake of establishing an independent Palestinian state and liberation of the Golan Heights of Syria.
They voiced deep concern over the deterioration of conditions in Lebanon and called on the Lebanese to resort to dialogue for national conciliation.
Kuwait and Algeria also expressed deep concern over conditions in Iraq, calling for the international community to rally support for the Iraqi people.
They also called for speedy action to resolve the Darfur crisis and for conciliation in Somalia.
They two leaders also called for dialogue to restore the UAE sovereignty on the three islands that have been under Iran’s control.
They urged Iran to cooperate with the international community on its nuclear issue, and affirmed the necessity of clearing the Mideast of weapons of mass destruction and called for negotiations to resolve the Western Sahara issue.
The two Arab countries affirmed keenness on securing success of the Arab economic summit due to be hosted by Kuwait, condemned terrorism and called for peaceful dialogue among nations.
