Jammu : The Bharatiya Janata Party has supported National Conference leader and former chief minister Farooq Abdullah’s assertion that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and shall ever remain so.
The party’s vice-president and spokesperson Hari Om Tuesday welcomed Abdullah’s statement at a rally here Monday that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and there was no question of using Pakistani currency in the state.
Farooq ridiculed his rival, Peoples Democratic Party patron and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, for proposing the use of Pakistani currency alongside Indian currency in Jammu and Kashmir.
“This is Mufti Sayeed’s dream, it would never get realized into a reality,” said Abdullah in Nagrota, a Hindu dominated area currently being represented by the BJP in the state assembly.
Hari Om hailed Abdullah’s statement and said that the NC leader has done well by snubbing Mufti Sayeed for his call to allow use of Pakistani currency in the state.
The BJP leader asked Abdullah to join hands with BJP for ending Article 370 that grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bars non-state people from purchasing immovable property and getting service in the state.
“If the National Conference wants to establish its true democratic and secular credentials, then they have no other alternative but to join the BJP crusade against Article 370, which has simply promoted fissiparous tendencies in Jammu and Kashmir and not allowed the state to integrate emotionally with the rest of the country,” Hari Om said.
