Maoists kill villager in Orissa

Bhubaneswar : The bullet riddled body of a man, suspected to have been killed by Maoist rebels, was found lying on a highway in Orissa’s Malkangari district Thursday, police said.

The corpse was found on state highway number 25 near Telrai village, about 750 km from here. Police said the Maoists might have suspected the man of spying on them.

Rebels of the outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) are active in more than half of Orissa’s 30 districts.

In the past three months they have killed at least eight villagers in Malkangiri district, suspecting them to be police spies.
