Bangkok : Thailand’s ex-Premier Thaksin Shinawatra called on his supporters to rally peacefully, his spokesman Pongthep Thepkanchana said Saturday.
Pongthep said Thaksin urged his supporters not to create conflict with others in the country, and not to attack Privy Council President Prem Tinsulanonda in the pro-Thaksin website www.hi-thaksin.net, according to a report by Bangkok Post website.
He also called on his supporters not to use Thaksin’s name in staging any movement in face of social conflicts in the country.
Pongthep said Thaksin is not involved in the government’s plan to amend the 2007 constitution.
Pro-Thaksin group were engaged in a verbal fight with anti-Thaksin group, or People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD), on Friday night when the PAD held a seminar at Thammasat University in order to gather support for a campaign against the government’s plan to amend the 2007 constitution.
