Egypt to host Palestinian factional dialogue

Cairo : Egyptian officials said Sunday that Cairo is to host a Palestinian factional dialogue so as to consider the lull about to be signed with Israel with an Egyptian mediation.

They added that on Tuesday the Islamic Jehad, Fateh, Hamas, and the two democratic and popular front for Palestine liberation movements are to head to Cairo for the dialogue resumption.

Cairo gave guarantees that such a meeting would lead to uplift the siege imposed on Gaza Strip.

In related development, President Mahmoud Abbas is expected Sunday to meet his Egyptian counterpart Hosny Mubarak in Sharm el-Sheikh city so as to enhance the efforts exerted aiming at reaching a lull in Gaza Strip.

Palestine ambassador to Cairo Nabil Amr said in this regard that Abbas’ talks with US President George Bush in Washington tackled a number of issues related to the period after international summit of Annapolis’.

Concerning Abbas and Mubarak meeting, Amr made it clear that the meeting is to tackle the Egyptian efforts exerted so as to reach a lull; reopening Gaza crossings and uplifting the siege imposed on Gaza Strip so as to east the Gazans’ suffering.

Amr accused Israeli premier Ehud Olmert of embarrassing Abbas saying that he is not cooperative; resuming the settlement policy on the ground.
