New Delhi : The Indian cricket board Monday appointed advocate Sudhir Nanavati of Ahmedabad as the commissioner to inquire in the case of Harbhajan Singh allegedly slapping S Sreesanth in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match Friday night.
“Nanavati will make a preliminary inquiry and call for explanation from the concerned persons and submit his report within 15 days to the president of the Board Sharad Pawar,” said Niranjan Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in a statement.
“On receipt of the report, the President will refer the same to the disciplinary committee,” Shah added.
Mumbai Indians’ officiating skipper Harbhajan Singh has already been banned temporarily from the IPL after the incident. Match Referee Farokh Engineer will conduct the inquiry here Monday afternoon.
