FCI official kidnapped for ransom in Bihar

Patna : An official of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) was kidnapped in Bihar’s Siwan district, the police said Tuesday.

Kashinath Kalyan, a storehouse manager of FCI, was kidnapped when he was on his way to office at Maharajganj from his residence in Siwan, about 150 km from here.

The police suspected he was kidnapped for ransom. “After the kidnapping, he spoke with an employee of his office that kidnappers were demanding Rs.5 million for his safe release,” a police official said.

The police have lodged a case of kidnapping and begun investigations.
