The delegation, sent by the Political and Economic Affairs Department at the Canadian High Commission, comprised Adrian Norfolk, counsellor, Political and Economic Affairs, Ayesha Rekhi, first secretary, and Madhusri Das, senior political analyst.

Talking to reporters at the seminary, Norfolk said he was feeling very happy to be there and the educational atmosphere was very good. Norfolk said the terrorism conference, organized by this seminary here on 25th February, sent a very good message to the world.
Accompanied with first secretary at the Canadian High Commission, Ayesha Rekhi and senior political analyst Madhusri Das, the counselor visited various departments of the seminary. The delegation was welcomed at the guest house of the madrasa by its deputy rector Qari Mohammad Usman.

Talking to reporters, the Canadian envoy said the main reason of terrorism among Muslims in India was lack of education and poverty. Interfering at this juncture, Qari Mohammad Usman said this was not a real cause of terrorism because poverty and lack of education was not found among Muslims only but also among other communities. Qari Usman said this was a wrong assumption that Muslims happened to be terrorists. He said Muslims are struggling for their survival in certain countries of the world.

When the Canadian envoy was asked how terrorism could be eradicated; he said he could not give any reply to it. But he said it was not good to appreciate terrorism and it was equally wrong to oppress and harass innocents in the name of terrorism.

Regarding Canadian Muslims, Norfolk said their government adhered to justice to followers of every religion and treated them equally. He said madrasas were also working freely in his country and the government did not interfere in their affairs. He said Canada’s population is 3.4 crore and 10% of them are Muslims who are living very well without facing any trouble. He said his delegation had been travelling across India to survey the condition of madrasas and in this connection his team would also visit Kolkata, Hyderabad and some other cities.
