Mohali (Punjab) : A Punjab police inspector posted in the flying squad division of the vigilance department was found dead near the railway station in Mohali town of Punjab Monday.
Inspector Parminder Singh Dhillon was a resident of Phase-XI, Mohali. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son, the police said.
He was in his late 30s and it is suspected that he might have committed suicide after consuming poison, the police said.
Earlier, Parminder was posted at police stations in Kurali and Mullanpur in Punjab. He was living at his in-laws’ house in Phase-XI Mohali since his marriage in 1995.
This is the second such case of the mysterious death of a police official in the vicinity as on Aug 2, a police inspector was stoned to death in Dadu Majra Colony near Chandigarh.
“Parminder left the house Sunday afternoon after an altercation and did not return. We only came to know about his death Monday morning from the police,” said Avtar Singh Sahota, father-in-law of Parminder.
The police have registered the case and the body has been sent to the civil hospital, Phase-VI in Mohali for the autopsy.
