The Parliament vote of confidence on the cabinet statement allows the government to start functioning officially, the report said.

National unity government led by Prime Minister Fouad Seniora unanimously adopted Monday night a policy statement after three weeks of intensive debates.

The approval on the statement allows it to be moved to parliament for vote of confidence despite pro-government Christian ministers’ reservations.

The cabinet policy statement included a rather vague clause on Hezbollah’s resistance.

Copies of the policy statement were distributed Tuesday to members of parliament to prepare for discussion.
