Lucknow : Three people were arrested Thursday for firing at an activist of the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur district, the police said.
“Munna Gautam (of the BSP) is undergoing treatment and is out of danger now,” Senior Superintendent of Police Kanpur A.K. Singh told IANS by phone.
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in the Kalyanpur locality of Kanpur, about 90 km from here.
Although the case appears to be a fall-out of an old rivalry, the exact reason behind the assault was yet to be ascertained, the police official said.
“The three people, who were named by Gautam in connection with the attack, are now being interrogated,” Singh said.
