Munger (Bihar): Modernization of madrasas should be carried out keeping in mind the need, importance, utility and nature of madrasas, said Maulana Wali Rahmani, chairman of the Central government sub-committee modernization of madrasas.

Talking to mediapersons he said that keeping the basic purpose of madrasas intact, some stage-wise changes should be made in the syllabi of the madrasas that their character remains unaffected while they become capable of meeting contemporary requirements.

Maulana Wali Rahmani also said that instead of making any changes in educational system of madrasas, their graduates should be provided with facilities so that they could continue their education in mainstream education institutions.

Citing Britain’s Leeds University as an example, he asked if an Egyptian madrasa graduate possessing the certificate of Fazil can be directly admitted to Leeds University’s Ph. D. courses, why this cannot be done in India.
