Jeev fails to recover from poor start at Wyndham Championship

By IANS,

Greensboro (North Carolina) : Jeev Milkha Singh, returning to the course after a highly successful campaign at the US PGA Championships last week, failed to recover from a disastrous start with two double bogeys in his first three holes as he shot a three-over 73 in the first round of the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship.

On a day when the scores were rather low, Jeev was way down at tied 145th.

Starting on the tenth, Jeev was four-over within three holes with double bogeys on the 10th and 12th. He got his only birdie on the back nine on the 15th, but again dropped a shot on the first. An eagle on the fifth was the redeeming feature of the round, which ended with a bogey on the ninth at the Segderfield Country Club Thursday.

Bob Heintz and rookie Martin Laird matched the course record with seven-under 63 each to share the lead after the first round.

Garrett Willis birdied his final five holes to join Scott Sterling, Tim Clark and Carl Pettersson one stroke back at 64.

This is the last event on the Tour before the start of the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedExCup.
