Mumbai : The Indian Cricket board has decided to introduce a monthly pension scheme for retired international women cricketers.
Those who have played ten or more Tests will receive Rs.15,000 per month, and those who have played five to nine Tests will receive Rs. 10,000 per month, a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement said after the working committee meeting here.
The board has also decided to extend the monthly gratis scheme to the widows of Test umpires, as is being done presently in the case of the widows of deceased Test cricketers.
BCCI will send a female cricket coach to China as a part of its mission to promote and develop women’s cricket.
Among other decisions, the board will purchase land at Kolkata to set up a cricket academy for promising cricketers from northeastern states.
