New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia will hold Confluence 2008 – A Career & Placement Fair on August 27 and 28. The fair will be organised jointly by JMI’s Placement Cell, NCC & NSS in association with the Centre for Career Development.
The fair will be inaugurated by Mr. Pooran Chander Pandey, Head of Times Foundation, Times of India Group, Mr. Sudhir K. Sinha, Country Head of CSR, Arcelor Mittal India, Registrar, JMI and Vice Chancellor of the university will preside over the inaugural programme.
A number of educational institutions will set up their stalls to disseminate career information to both students and parents. A series of career workshops will be conducted throughout the day on various subjects and in different disciplines. The sessions on Effective Career Planning will be conducted by professional counselors, experts from industry and academicians. An exclusive session will be conducted by Lt. Gen. Prakash Chaudhary, Director General, NCC on “Be a Star Performer” on 28 August at 11:00 AM.
Mr. Rajkamal Gupta, VP-HR, LURGI India, Mr. Sanjay Baxla, VP-HR, DLF Retail Ltd., Mr. Sanjay Bragta, Sahara TV, Mr. M.A. Siddiqui, Prof. S.M. Akhtar, Dean, Faculty of Architecture, Prof. Zubair Meenai, DSW, JMI, will talk on different job opportunities. Mr. Rihan Khan Suri, University Placement Officer and Mr. Jitin Chawla, Director, Centre for Career Development will conduct a few sessions on ‘Career Options’ where different careers in the following groups will be enumerated: People-based careers, Business/Organisation-based careers, Physical/Outdoor Careers and Science-based Careers.
A number of workshops will also be conducted throughout the two days on various areas like engineering, going abroad, medical & paramedical careers, airlines & hotel management careers and commerce based careers. A number of other options like nanotechnology, animation & multimedia, organic farming, agriculture & gaming technologies will also be discussed in detail.
Indian Airforce, DRDO, Grail Research, Lurgi India, JK Paper, Camlin India, Genpact, Convergys, Manya group will participate in the fair.
Students from different courses of the university and other colleges from Delhi and NCR will participate in this fair. A number of students from different schools other than JMI will also participate in the fair.
