Manila : At least four Philippine soldiers were killed and 10 wounded early Saturday when they were ambushed by suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf group in southern part of the country, a media report said.
The rebels fired mortars towards the military headquarters in Patikul town before engaging in a gunfight with the soldiers, the ABS-CBN News said, quoting security officials.
The injured have been rushed to a hospital.
Security teams were dispatched to the clash site to pursue the militants.
No further details were immediately available.
