The company, taken over by the Tatas earlier this year, will now make Land Rover and Discovery vehicles on four days a week, from Monday to Thursday.

Some night shifts will also be scrapped starting from October, a company spokesperson is quoted as saying by BBC News.

The changes will affect Rover’s Solihull plant in West Midlands. The changes will reduce a “small percentage” of annual production, the spokesperson said.

Sales were still strong in China, Russia, Brazil, Australia, the Middle East and North Africa, he said.
