Islamabad : The Bihar flood crisis is worsening. Water levels are steadily rising and more and more villages are being washed away by the strong currents. And still there is no sign of any relief in many areas of India.

Even relief camps are no better off with people complaining that hardly any food or clothes have reached them, NDTV reported.

Tens of thousands of people are still waiting for relief. The number of food packets that are being distributed everyday is woefully inadequate with only 2,500 for an estimated 35 lakh homeless people.

Madhepura, Supaul and Saharsa districts are the worst affected as they are in the direct path of the Kosi river after it changed course. Most of the population in the three districts are still to be rescued.

The water levels are steadily rising in Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa flooding more and more areas.

Rescue operations are being hampered by heavy rain and strong currents; 20 people have died after a boat capsized on Friday.

The number of dead is steadily rising. It now stands at 67. Fifteen districts, that’s almost half of Bihar are virtually under water. More than 10 lakh people have been evacuated.
