Fake currency worth Rs.200,000 seized in Uttar Pradesh

Rampur (Uttar Pradesh) : Fake currency with a nominal value of Rs.200,000 was recovered with the arrest of two persons here Saturday, the police said.

“Currency notes of Rs.500 denomination were recovered from Munna Kumar Gupta and Sahanawaz. The third accused, Jumman, managed to escape,” superintendent of police Veer Bahadur Singh said.

The police said that the gang dealing in counterfeit Indian currency was operating from Nepal. Chandra Mohan, the gang’s kingpin, had employed 10 to 15 youths as couriers, the police added.
