Ramallah : Salam Fayyad, prime minister of the Palestinian caretaker government, said Saturday that forming anew transitional government of national accordance would unify the Palestinian territories.
Fayyad told reporters in Ramallah that agreeing on forming an interim government of national accordance to prepare for new elections would be “a realistic introduction to unify the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.”
After Hamas movement took control of the Gaza Strip by force in mid June last year, the movement has been ruling the enclave, while the West Banks is ruled by Fatah movement and President Mahmoud Abbas.
“Forming a transitional government of national accordance that includes qualified Palestinian technocrats to prepare for early legislative and presidential elections would prepare for constructive dialogue,” said Fayyad.

Egypt has been mediating between the two rival movements, Fatah and Hamas, to end their disputes through a comprehensive national dialogue that would include other Palestinian factions and political groups.
