“Now we’ve decided to support 11,000 farmers in Singur who willingly gave their lands for industrialisation. Since they welcomed industrialisation drive of the state government, our party will now participate in a direct campaign for industries at the abandoned site of Tata Motors car factory,” Chakraborty, who is the party’s central committee member, told reporters here.

He said: “The land, once acquired for industries, cannot be given back to the farmers.”

“About 84 percent of farmers gave their lands to the state government in Singur and they want factory at the vacant Nano factory site,” he said.

“CPI-M labour arm CITU (Centre of Indian Trade Unions) and the party’s farmers’ wing Kisan Sabha members will stage a demonstration at Tata Motors factory site Dec 3 to support the demand of the willing farmers in Singur,” he added.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee Tuesday went to Singur and again demanded 400 acres of theacquired farmlands be given back to the unwilling farmers.

“Now, if Trinamool supporters decide to go on agitation in demand of acquired land, we’ll also stage counter-protest in Singur,” Chakraborty said.
