Moscow : At least nine workers were killed and six others injured in a mine explosion in Russia’s northern Murmansk region, the police said Friday.
The incident occurred Thursday as workers were preparing to carry out a controlled explosion at the Rasvumchorrsky mine, eight kilometres from the town of Kirovsk. Three people were missing after the blast, a police official said.
Rescue officials are searching for the missing people.
The injured were rushed to a hospital, the official said.
The cause of the blast is being investigated.
