DAMASCUS, Dec 14 (KUNA) — Former US President Jimmy Carter met with head of Hamas politburo Khaled Mashaal, said a Palestinian source on Sunday.
The source told KUNA that both men would discuss the situation in the Palestinian territories, inter-Palestinian conflict, as well as the issue of imprisoned Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who is reportedly held captive in Gaza Strip.
President Carter told the press yesterday that Palestinians and Israelis needed to resolve their conflicts.
He also called on Palestine’s Fatah and Hamas movements to end their disputes for the sake of Palestinians and in order to commence the regional peace process.
