“The lady principal of a private nursing college in Hussainabad locality in Jaunpur has been booked under the SC/ST act,” police inspector R. Verma told IANS.

“We have initiated an inquiry into the case and have recorded the statements of the college students and other faculty members,” Verma added.

According to the police, nursing student Kumari Bindu, 22, Wednesday registered a complaint that her principal Girja Kaushik forcibly cut her hair, while she was doing her practical in the college laboratory.

Bindu is pursuing a one-year diploma course from the Indian College of Nursing in Hussainabad in Jaunpur, some 250 km from here.

Kaushik also allegedly threatened Bindu with dire consequences and told her not to lodge a complaint with the police, said Verma.
