Mumbai, Dec 19 (IANS Former judge of the Supreme Court, Justice B.N. Srikrishna will head a committee appointed by the Bombay High Court Friday to recommend measures to the state government to prevent recurrence of terror incidents similar to the Nov 26 attacks.
The committee will submit its report to the high court within six weeks from Friday.
State Advocate-General Ravi Kadam, declining to comment over the developments, told IANS that he was awaiting a copy of the court’s order.
The order came Friday from a division bench comprising of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice Sharad Bobde in response to six public interest litigations filed before it pertaining to the Mumbai terror attacks which left around 170 dead and nearly 260 injured.
The committee headed by Justice Srikrishna would consist of top officials like the state chief secretary, finance secretary, home secretary, director-general of police, representatives of lawyers and solicitors and eminent personalities from different fields.
The panel is scheduled to hold its first meeting in the Mantralaya, the state government headquarters, next Friday.
Srikrishna, who also served in the Bombay High Court, headed the famous Srikrishna Commission, which inquired into the communal riots of December 1992-January 1993 and the subsequent serial bomb blasts of March 12, 1993. Its report was submitted in 1998.
