GAZA, Dec 20 (KUNA) — A ship, carrying relief aid and food supplies, reached the Gaza Strip Saturday after sailing from a port in Cyprus.
The Karama (pride) ship was carrying several Arab and foreign activists.
This is the first aid ship to reach Gaza after Palestinian factions announced yesterday the expiring of the truce with Israel.
The arrival of the ship sparked celebrations on the part of locals, who saw the vessel as a breath of fresh air especially as the Israeli-impose siege deprived Gazans from all necessities.
Local officials praised the brave gesture to help Gazans, saying the main purpose of this aid mission was to evaluate the health situation in the Strip.
The Karama delegation will also focus on means to develop the Gaza Strip seaport to enable it to receive more ships as well as other infrastructure projects.
The ship was in Gaza two weeks ago carrying a number of universities students in Gaza who were unable to enter the Strip due to the siege
