Islamabad : At least five people were killed and two others were wounded Sunday morning in two missile and mortar attacks in northern Pakistan.
Two missiles were fired by unknown suspects in the cantonment area of Bannu town in North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), said media reports.
They said one of the missiles hit a government office, killing two people, and another landed in an open field near the official residence of Deputy Inspector General (DIG).
In a related incident in northern Sawat valley, three members of a single family were killed and two were wounded in a mortar attack.
A mortar shell, according to reports, hit a house in Matta area of Sawat, killing three and wounding two others.
Security forces have been conducting military operations in Sawat since last year, reportedly killing and arresting hundreds of militants.
