New Delhi : India has extended a stand by credit facility of 100 million dollars to Maldives, and an agreement to this effect was signed here on Wednesday, according to local media.
The agreements were signed after the talks between Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and the visiting President of Maldives Mohammed Nasheed in New Delhi on Wednesday, said the reports.
Nasheed, who arrived on a three-day state visit to India on Tuesday, will also be meeting the President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil and Vice President Hamid Ansari.
The Maldivian president emphasized that he wanted India to be the biggest trading partner as Indian products were in great demand in Maldives.
He also expressed his gratitude to Indian government for the USD 100 million economic package given to Maldives to bail it out from economic crisis.
