In a letter to President of the Security Council, Neven Jurica, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN Eshaq Al Habib, urged the body to take urgent and meaningful action to force the Israeli regime to stop its atrocities and crimes against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and help alleviate the sufferings and pain of the people in the region.

A Security Council diplomat told IRNA before the meeting that the Islamic states and the Arab League were trying to encourage the Security Council to issue a statement on three axis.

He added that the statement is urged to be focused on urgent cessation of the Zionists attacks on Gaza, end to the Gaza siege, and condemnation of the Zionist regime for its recent atrocities in the region.

Over 220 people were killed in one of the bloodiest 24 hours for Palestinians in 60 years of conflict with the occupying Israeli regime.
