Followers of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, now in exile in Dubai, are trying to stop Vejjajiva from starting his work officially, since he is accused of having come to power after a covered coup.

Vejjajiva´s speech at the Parliament was postponed for Tuesday, said Lower Chamber president Chai Chidchob on the phone Monday.

The demonstration, called “Democratic Alliance against the Dictatorship” started Sunday and intensified itself on Monday with the arrival of thousands of people to Bangkok.

The Constitution said that only the government can only work after the Head of Government has showed his political program before the Parliament.

Vejjajiva was chosen the head of the Thai Executive on December 15 and has received the support of Prem Tinsulanonda, First Advisor of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
