Afghanistan Blasts Kill Four, Hurt 41

Kabul : Four dead and 41 wounded were the toll of a car-bomb set off next to a US military vehicle in Parwan and of two land mines in Kandahar.

Interior Ministry Spokesman, Brigadier General Zemarai Bashari, said the first attack occurred during a meeting of Afghan authorities and US military at a government office in Charikar, Parwan.

The Pentagon says their vehicle caught fire with the blast and wounded two soldiers.

Two land mines set off by remote control in Spin Boldak, in Kandahar, south Afghanistan, near the border with Pakistan, killed two and left 21 wounded, said local Chief of Police, General Matiula Qateh.

In another report, seven alleged Afghani rebels died in clashes with the Police in Helmand province, south Afghanistan.

Afghan AIP news agency says Provincial chief of Police, General Asadullah Sherzad, assured that the clashes occurred in Nawa-i-Barak Zayi District.

But rebel spokesman Mohammed Yousif Ahmadi denied the police version in telephone interview, adding that the victims were civilians.
