Police officer held in Chhattisgarh for duping youth

Raipur : A police officer has been arrested on charges of duping a youth of Rs.425,000 with the promise of securing a job for him, officials said here Wednesday.

Santosh Borkar was arrested late Tuesday after 24-year-old Vinod, a resident of industrial city Bhilai, complained that three people, including Borkar, had cheated him, the police said.

Vinod said in the complaint that Borkar, who was presently receiving training at the police academy in Chandrakhuri in Raipur district, had demanded Rs.500,000 with the promise of securing a job for him in the police force.

Vinod had already paid Rs.425,000 in instalments.

Police officials investigating the case said they were looking for a couple belonging to Rajnandgaon district who were associates of Borkar.
