Colombo : At least 11 civilians were killed in a bomb explosion on a passenger bus in central Sri Lanka Saturday morning, a military spokesman said.
The explosion took place when the bus was in the bus stand at Dambulla, 148 km north of the capital, Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.
More than 20 people were injured in the blast, hospital sources said.
The blast comes ahead of the country’s 60th anniversary of independence to be marked in Colombo Feb 4.
