New Delhi : India followed closely Pakistan’s test of a Ghauri (Hatf-V) nuclear missile on Friday.

Indian media reported that the test of the missile, which has a range of up to 808 miles, took place amid political agitation in the neighboring country, with which New Delhi has been at war four times (1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999).

The main concern is that nuclear weapons in Pakistan can fall in the hands of radical Islamic groups.

After the test, President Pervez Musharraf pointed out that the government can frustrate any threat to his country’s nuclear capacity, according to the TV station Times Now and other Indian media organizations.

Musharraf and the Armed Forces chief, Gen. Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, witnessed the test, successfully carried out at the end of the annual training exercise of the Missile Group of the Army’s Strategic Force, the Pakistani government said.

The Ghauri missile was shot a week after the training launch of a short-range Shaheen-I ballistic missile, which can hit a target at 435 miles.
