“Two roadside bombs detonated simultaneously near the convoy of Salam al-Qazaz, deputy minister of electricity, in the al-Aqari neighborhood near the Palestine Street, wounding two of his bodyguards and a civilian,” the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Qazaz escaped the attack unhurt as the double explosion took place after his convoy delivered him at home and left to nearby streets in the neighborhood, the source said.

In a separate incident, a roadside bomb went off in the al-Ghadeer neighborhood in eastern the capital wounding four people, the source added.

Also in the day, two roadside bombs detonated near a U.S. patrol in Doura district in southern Baghdad, he said.

The U.S. military had no immediate comment on the incident.
