Kabul : A ceremony was held to mark change of command of the NATO troops in the volatile southern region of Afghanistan, a statement here said on Sunday.
During the ceremony, Major General Marc Lessard took charge of the NATO’s Regional Commander in the south from Major General Jack Page, said the statement.
Addressing the ceremony, the new general said improvement of security in the region would stay one of his top priorities. Apart from that, he said, they would also help improve the extent of governance and development in the same region.
Speaking on the occasion, Major General Page said the change of command was a continuous process. “Afghans want a secure, peaceful, and prosperous country and it is what they want and what they deserve,” said General Page.
