Gaza : An attack on a mall in Demona, southern Israel, Monday left at least seven Israelis dead and scores others injured, the army said.
“An attack, who appeared to be a Palestinian, entered the mall this morning wearing an explosive belt and blew himself up, killing seven others and injuring scores of shoppers,” The Israeli Army said.
An army spokesman told Radio Israel security forces found a second belt that did not go off in the same mall, indicating another attacker could still be around.
The spokesman said the attacker is most likely from Gaza who entered through Sinai and onto Demona near the Israeli Negev.
Demona is home to the Israeli nuclear reactor, which prompts Israeli security to take strict measures in the area.
The area is meanwhile undergoing thorough inspections to capture any Palestinian attackers who might have entered the city.
Israeli sources and media said it was probable other attackers are in the city and planning more attacks, warranting the current beefed up police and security forces presence.
