New Delhi : Private developer Suryachakra Power Corp Ltd (SPCL) will spend Rs.11 billion ($279 million) to set up a 270 MW power plant in Chhattisgarh, the company said Monday.
SPCL is an arm of Suryachakra Group, a Hyderabad-based diversified enterprise, for undertaking power generation business.
“The company has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Chhattisgarh State Electricity Board Feb 1, 2008 for setting up a 270 MW thermal power project in the state of Chhattisgarh with a proposed investment of approximately Rs.11 billion,” SPCL said in a statement Monday.
According to SPCL, as of now, it is running a 20 MW power plant near Port Blair, the capital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. That plant was developed at a cost of Rs.850 million.
